SPECTACULAR ROMANIA

*After Mocanita, considered one of the 10 most spectacular train journeys in the world, the Transfagarasan, a road built by Ceausescu in the Fagaras Mountains , was recently added to other famous charts:Top Gear recently declared it the most spectacular road in the world.

The Mocanita train, on Vaser Valley in Romania, was built in the '30-'35 and used to transport down the valley the logs cut down in the mountains. Partially destroyed during the war, the rail was rebuilt and now it's included in the tourism itineraries. The steam engines were built in 1919, 1921, and the '50's, in Germany and Romania. The line is 56 kilometers long, between Viseu and Izvorul Coman, and the journey up to the final destination takes about 7 - 8 hours. After accosting the wood on the scaffold, the train comes down the mountain in another six hours ,when you can admire wonderful landscapes.
